Green Career Week — October 6-10

Green Career Week is almost here, and it’s the perfect chance to shine a spotlight on the exciting and diverse careers in horticulture! This national initiative brings our industry together to inspire the next generation of plant professionals, and we want YOU to be part of it. Invite a guest speaker into your classroom,  take a field trip or simply highlight horticulture careers. You can follow  #GreenCareerWeek to see career opportunities showcased.  As a reminder, Seed Your Future offers free resources to make planning easier — career profiles, Horticulture STEM career videos, classroom activities, plant power career quiz, career exploration lessons and a database of teacher grants are all available. Together, we can grow the future of horticulture!

Winter Wonderland Workshop — October 25

Be inspired this holiday season! In this one-day hands-on workshop, you will create several fun pieces to take home, including:

• A festive holiday design in glass, perfect for a kitchen island or entryway. 
• A stunning evergreen centerpiece with fresh flowers to highlight your dining room table or coffee table. 
• A classic faux wreath to accent your home for the season. 
• An on-trend, beautifully hand-crafted, multi-layered holiday bow to adorn your tree, staircase or holiday wreath. 

You’ll also gain essential knowledge of evergreens — covering care and special treatment techniques — so your fresh holiday arrangements last longer and look their best. Spend the day learning, creating and celebrating the season with flowers! Submit your registration by Oct. 10, 2025.

Fundamental Elements and Principles

of Design Class — January 9-11

Taught by expert faculty with years of experience in the floral industry, these courses will help provide you with the skills needed to increase your knowledge, hone your skills and advance your career. Members of the Texas State Florists' Association (TSFA) enjoy significant savings on these classes and other offerings from the TSFA School of Floral Design. Element of the Month — Space

Space is the physical area occupied by materials and is also the open areas around those materials. Space is either positive or negative.

Positive space — the area where product (flowers, foliage or accessories) are physically placed in the design.

Negative space — the open areas in and around those materials.
